I have been practising aromatherapy — both clinically and holistically — for over twenty years, and my fascination has never faded. Herbs, roots, plants and flowers have always called to me. They are the quiet alchemists of our world, offering their essences to become the oils, balms and blends that support healing, ritual and emotional wellbeing.
Today, I invite you to travel with me — not just through the senses, but back through time — to explore the history, mystery and magick woven into the roots of aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy is now recognised as a science, but this was not always the case. Long before laboratories and clinical studies, people learned through intuition, ritual and relationship with the land. My own journey has always been inspired by this older wisdom — the part of aromatherapy that fills me with wonder and invites me to know more.
To smell a rose at twilight, to touch Melissa leaves still heavy with morning dew, to brush against lavender and feel its cleansing scent rise — these are moments of magick. They remind us that aromatherapy is not only therapeutic; it is spiritual, sensory and deeply human.
We must travel back to lands lost in myth and legend — to times when stories were carved into stone, painted on tomb walls, or whispered through temple corridors. We journey to:
These cultures may be long past, but their wisdom is not forgotten.
I have gathered together a series of explorations that trace the magick of aromatherapy through these powerful societies. Each civilisation developed its own rituals, remedies and sacred practices — yet all were united by a deep reverence for the natural world.
In these pages, you will discover:
This journey is both historical and spiritual — a weaving of science, folklore and magick.
Together, we step into the lineage of those who came before us: the healers, the wise women, the priests and priestesses, the herbalists and the dreamers who understood that nature is alive, powerful and endlessly generous.
